PSP's Troop M — which includes Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties — said they made 29 DUI arrests between Friday, May 24 and Monday, May 27. That's down from the same holiday weekend in 2023 when troopers made 31 DUI arrests, according to the data.

Of the 45 total crashes Troop M responded to over the long weekend, two were said to be alcohol-related. Last year, seven of the 42 crashes reported were believed to be alcohol-related.

There were no reported fatal crashes for 2024 or 2023 during the Memorial Day weekend. In both years, 16 people were injured in car crashes during the holiday.

Other stats from Troop M's holiday enforcement period:

  • 158 speeding citations, down from 352 in 2023.
  • 10 child passenger seat citations, down from 26 in 2023.
  • 48 seatbelt citations, down from 52 in 2023.
  • 984 other traffic citations, up from 965 in 2023.

Troopers say they will continue to be on increased patrols during the summer travel season, especially over the Independence Day weekend.
